Jobriath was a glam-rock singer, songwriter, and entertainer who recorded only two unsuccessful albums. Historians consider him the first openly gay rock musician. Once a member of the original Los Angeles run of the musical "Hair", Jobriath then relocated to New York, where he recorded one album (1969) with the progressive rock group Pidgeon .

A chance discovery led to Jobriath’s next flirtation with fame in the early ’70s.
