The band's early output, such as The Freed Man and Weed Forestin', as well as Sebadoh III, was typical of this style. Following the release of Bubble & Scrape in 1993, Gaffney left the band. His replacement and erstwhile stand-in, Bob Fay, appeared on Bakesale and Harmacy, but was fired before the sessions for the band's major label release The Sebadoh, featuring drummer Russ Pollard.
