Gloria Jones wurde 1945 als Tochter eines Geistlichen der Pfingstbewegung in Cincinnati geboren. Sie kam früh mit Musik in Berührung, lernte mit sieben Jahren Klavierspielen und begleitete darauf mit zehn Jahren den Kirchenchor ihres Vaters. [1] Ihr Bruder Richard Davis Jones (1947–2001) war ebenfalls Musiker sowie Musikproduzent.
Gloria Jones is one of the best kept musical secrets. I discovered her first through Zinc Alloy era T-Rex then worked my way back to her Motown debut, "Share My Love." She has a powerfull, emotive voice and unlike many female stars of the soul era, actually wrote and produced her own songs, both talents which shine (in different ways) on these two CDs.
