7 de feb. de 2020 · Opened in 1965, the Eleanor Donnelly Erdman was designed as a modern Scottish castle by architect Louis Kahn. Composed of three connecting units (or "diamonds"), it houses the College's largest dining hall, and several meeting spaces.

After a desultory generation of mostly insignificant architecture, Bryn Mawr returned to its heritage of significant buildings when it commissioned Kahn to design its first dormitory since the 1930s.
Erdman Hall Dormitories at Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania 1960—1965. Erdmann Hall of Bryn Mawr College is designed as three cubic structures with smaller cubic structures within. According to Louis Kahn, the three cubes connected at the corners of this building represent three interconnected families.

Inspired by Comlongon Castle in Scotland, the Louis Kahn/Anne Tyng building reflects an aesthetic that treated buildings not as places that people animate but more as sculptures they admire.
