26 de feb. de 2010 · Proverbs 1:1–7. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction” (v. 7). God used Solomon at various points in his life while he was fixed on pleasing Him to give His people much of the Old Testament wisdom literature.

We need to make some important distinctions about the biblical meaning of “fearing” God. These distinctions can be helpful, but they can also be a little dangerous.
26 de nov. de 2010 · Fearing God. Ecclesiastes 11:1 – 12:14. “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil” (Ecc. 12:13–14). Our brief study of Ecclesiastes has looked at the contrast the book draws between “life under the sun” and “life under heaven.”
Proverbs 1:7 says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,” and Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, “The end of all matters is this: to fear God and to obey His commandments.” So, the first step to entering into the kingdom of God is to fear God. All true saving faith has in it the fear of God.
