They are often used for checking information that we think we know is true. Tag questions are made using an auxiliary verb (for example: be or have) and a subject pronoun (for example: I, you, she ).
A tag question is a statement + mini-question. We use tag questions to ask for confirmation. The basic structure is: 1) positive statement + negative tag. Ex: 'Snow is white, isn't it?' 2) negative statement + positive tag. Ex: 'You don't like me, do you?'
We can add question tags like isn't it?, can you? or didn't they? to a statement to make it into a question. Question tags are more common in speaking than writing. We often use question tags when we expect the listener to agree with our statement.
