Steelix is a dual-type Steel/Ground Pokémon that evolves from Onix if it is traded while it is holding a Metal Coat. This Pokémon is known to dig toward the earth's core. There are records of this Pokémon reaching a depth of over six-tenths of a mile underground.
Steelix is a Mount Pokemon with Steel and Ground types from Generation 2. It spawns in the Ultra Crater biome. Evolves from Onix when the Linking Cord used on it if the Pokemon is holding the Metal Coat.

It acts as a compass so that this Pokémon does not lose direction while it is tunneling. As it grows older, its body becomes increasingly rounder and smoother.
A partir de la Pokémon Rubí Omega y Pokémon Zafiro Alfa y sólo durante los combates, Steelix puede megaevolucionar a Mega-Steelix al llevar equipada la Steelixita. La energía liberada por la megaevolución cristaliza las células de su cuerpo, volviéndolas más fuertes que cualquier mineral y capaces de soportar temperaturas de todo tipo.
