Rules for using possessive ’s. We use ’s after a singular noun and ’ after a plural noun. Compare. singular noun + ’s. plural noun + ’. The girl’s bedroom. (The bedroom belongs to one girl.) The girls’ bedroom. (The bedroom belongs to more than one girl.)
