Joy Division's debut album, Unknown Pleasures, was recorded at Strawberry Studios, Stockport, in April 1979. Producer Martin Hannett significantly altered their live sound, a fact that greatly displeased the band at the time; however, in 2006, Hook said that in retrospect Hannett had done a good job and "created the Joy Division sound".
The band’s second and final studio album, recorded at Britannia Row Studios, Islington, London, March 18-30, 1980, with Martin Hannett as producer and first released July 18 1980. The album was remastered and re-released in 2007, with a bonus disc recorded live at the University of London Union (ULU), 8 February 1980.
