Conditionals describe the result of a certain condition. The if clause tells you the condition (If you study hard) and the main clause tells you the result (you will pass your exams). The order of the clauses does not change the meaning. If you study hard, you will pass your exams. You will pass your exams if you study hard.

Veamos un ejemplo: La situación ( If I close my eyes – Si cierro mi ojos) se conoce en inglés como If Clause. La consecuencia (I can’t see – no puedo ver) se conoce como Main Clause.
If the main clause of a hypothetical conditional is about the present or future, we use a modal: If I had got the job, we might be living in Paris now. (= I did not get the job so we are not living in Paris now.) If you had done your homework, you would know the answer. (= You did not do your homework so you do not know the answer.)
8 de may. de 2023 · Note that we use the simple present tense in the if-clause and the simple future tense in the main clause—the clause that expresses the likely outcome. This is how we indicate that under a certain condition (as expressed in the if-clause), a specific result will likely happen in the future.
Conditionals are if clauses: they express a situation or condition and its possible result. They are made up of two clauses; the conditional clause and the main clause. The former usually starts with the word if and sets out a condition, while the latter expresses what happens when this condition is fulfilled.
