For his pioneering work in motion-sequence still photography he became known as the "Father of the Motion Picture ." Muybridge developed the zoopraxiscope, an early device for projecting motion pictures.

Edward James Muggeridge (Kingston upon Thames, 9 de abril de 1830-ibídem, 8 de mayo de 1904), conocido con el seudónimo de Eadweard Muybridge, fue un fotógrafo e investigador británico. Cambió su nombre cuando emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1851.
