Women in Azerbaijan nominally enjoy the same legal rights as men; however, societal discrimination remains a problem.
Azerbaijan. Asia. Globally, some progress on women’s rights has been achieved. In Azerbaijan, 11% of women aged 20–24 years old who were married or in a union before age 18. The adolescent birth rate is 48.1 per 1,000 women aged 15–19 as of 2019, up from 43.5 per 1,000 in 2018.

Instead of across-the-board restrictions, the new rules adopt a health risk-based approach to certain jobs.

This booklet presents the experiences of six women whose exposure to the Women’s Resource Centres changed their lives. Their stories demonstrate that with the right idea, personal determination and the right support, women can overcome myriad challenges and become successful entrepreneurs.
