1 de oct. de 2018 · Alex Webb first photographed the U.S.–Mexico border in 1975, taking black-and-white photos of the border towns in Mexico and Texas over the next three years. He switched to color in 1979, and would continue photographing through the turn of the millenium, publishing the book Crossings in 2003.

Raised in New England, Webb first documented American social landscapes across Boston and New York, but often found them soulless and detached.
Alex Webb is best known for his complex and vibrant color photographs of serendipitous or enigmatic moments, often in places with socio-political tensions. Over the past 45 years, Webb has worked in places as varied as the U.S.-Mexico border, Haiti, Istanbul, and, most recently, a number of U.S. cities.
Webb’s photographs explore this complex, culturally rich borderland in views of Mexican migrants and American tourists, desolate villages and red-light, honky-tonk border cities. He also focuses on the various forms of smuggling - drugs and people heading north, electronic goods and guns going south - that have come to define the border.
