But these are excitements Velvet Goldmine grants as you watch and quiets after — an artist's expression made flat when trying to make it about you. Anyway, Todd Haynes explained this (a bit) in our interview from 2017 , rereading which pushed me to revisit for the first time in nearly a decade.
