This new location finally established Sam Ash as the only music store of merit in Brooklyn, their only real competition coming from Manhattan's music districts on Park Row and 48th Street. As the 1950s came to an end, the Ash family took notice that a full third of their business came from Long Island and began to think about opening a store in the region to better accommodate these customers.
