The walrus refers to Lewis Carroll's poem "The Walrus and the Carpenter" (from the book Through the Looking-Glass). Lennon later expressed dismay upon belatedly realising that the walrus was a villain in the poem.

A song with obscure and nonsensical lyrics that Lennon wrote to mock scholars and fans who analyzed his songs. The title and the walrus character are inspired by Lewis Carroll's poem The Walrus and The Carpenter, and the song also features snippets of Shakespeare and a nursery rhyme.
"I Am The Walrus" se caracteriza por su naturaleza surrealista y su falta aparente de lógica.
