Historia. Primeros años. El club se fundó oficialmente en 1887 tras la fusión de dos clubes. El 26 de julio de 1887 se fundaba de forma oficial como Blackpool Football Club . El club fue uno de los fundadores de la Lancashire League. En 1894 ingresó en la Football League.
Founded in 1887, the club played home games at Raikes Hall and the Athletic Grounds before moving to Bloomfield Road in 1901. The club were founder members of the Lancashire League in 1889 and were invited into the Football League Second Division in 1896.
Blackpool Football Club was founded in 1887 by former students of St John‘s School. Two years later, the other football club in town, South Shore FC, was merged into Blackpool. After two missed applies for the Football League, Blackpool was elected to the Second Division for the 1896-97 season.
Blackpool spent the years between 1962 and 1967 in Division One, before being relegated to the second tier of English football for the first time since 1936–37. After three seasons in Division Two, the club returned to the top flight, but only for one season.
