The 1st Infantry Division (1ID) is a combined arms division of the United States Army, and is the oldest continuously serving division in the Regular Army. It has seen continuous service since its organization in 1917 during World War I.

Organized on June 8, 1917, for duty on the Western Front in World War I, this first permanent division in the regular Army has seen action in all American wars since 1917, except the Korean, and has performed magnificently in all of its service.
12 de ene. de 2018 · During the War of 1812, the 1st Infantry served on the Canadian-Michigan frontier throughout 1812 and 1813. In 1814, it fought along the Niagara River. 1944-45. After the Normandy landings and the Battle of Normandy, the 1st Infantry Division participated in the liberation of the city of Liège, in Belgium and pushes back the German forces behind the Rhine. It crosses the Siegfried line and then attacks the German city of Aachen which surrenders on October 21, 1944.
He is also author of “The 1st Infantry Division and the U.S. Army Transformed: Road to Victory in Desert Storm, 1970–1991,” winner of the 2017 Army Historical Foundation award for Unit History.
