Plot. Following the events of the first film, Max and Duke's owner Katie has married a man named Chuck and had a son, Liam. Max's resentful, then overprotective, feelings for Liam develop into an itch that leads Katie to get him a humiliating dog cone from the veterinarian, but his luck changes when Duke reveals the family is going on a road trip.

Plot. Sometime after the events of the first film, Max and Duke 's owner, Katie, marries a man named Chuck and has a child, Liam. Max at first feels uneasy by Liam's presence, but eventually grows an affinity to him. As Liam gets older, Max becomes stressed with the potential dangers the outdoors could have for Liam.
On a family trip to a farm, Max and mutt Duke (Eric Stonestreet) encounter canine-intolerant cows, hostile foxes and a terrifying turkey, all of which only elevate Max’s anxiety. Luckily, Max gets some guidance from veteran farm dog Rooster (Harrison Ford, making his animated-film debut), who pushes Max to find his inner alpha.
