  1. I'm currently having an issue where the PCs in my topology are unable to pick up/renew IP addresses via dhcp pool. I am using a router-on-a-stick topology with VLans. If I do ipconfig /renew, the error message I get is: "DHCP Failed. APIPA is being used". The VLans and DHCP Pools are correctly configured, I think.

  2. 11 de may. de 2022 · - the router needs to have a subinterface on it corresponding the vlan 210 and the command "ip helper address " pointing to DHCP Server. You need to do this for all vlans you have. -The DHCP server was configured with IP address in one network and gateway in another network.

  3. DHCP request failed, APIPA being used or configured when the the end device are not connected with the DHCP Server but the next device to the end device is UP. Therefore, you needed to ping to from your next device to the DHCP Server / Router then you will troubleshoot it.

IP helper address is needed when your DHCP is behind routers, aka DHCP server is on different networks, behind B-cast domain. Add ip helper-address 201.168.192.4 on routers on interfaces towards client requesting IP.

I'm testing a network and I use the vlan among 20 vlan but in this packet tracer I just use 10 Vlan on my network, In this case, I use the DHCP server on my multilayer switch, not on my router.
