  1. Tank, Infantry, Black Prince (A43) is the name that was assigned to an experimental development of the Churchill tank with a larger, wider hull and a QF 17-pounder (76.2 mm) gun. It was named after Edward, the Black Prince, son of Edward III and heir to the English throne.

  5. 25 de ago. de 2015 · Similar in external appearance to the Churchill VII, the Black Prince had wider (24in) tracks, and the air intakes were mounted on the hull top instead of at the side, with the engine exhausting at the hull rear. Six A43 prototypes were ordered and these were delivered for trials in May 1945, too late for combat as hostilities in Europe had ceased.

But, the same engine used in Churchill series was used in the A43 Black Prince development. This made the black prince under powered and slow tank comparing to other infantry tanks.
