Departments There are four departments at the Polish National Film School in Lodz: Film and Television Directing, Direction of Photography and Television Production, Acting and Film Art Organization. The Departments were introduced by the School Senate resolutions.

Szkoła organizuje też własne festiwale: „Łodzią po Wiśle” Festiwal Filmów Studenckich z Łódzkiej Szkoły Filmowej wraz z jego edycjami zagranicznymi oraz Festiwal Szkół Teatralnych. 7.PRZEPUSTKA W ŚWIAT. In 1970 the syllabus of the schools was expanded to include television and today it is known as The National Film School in Łódź. Since 1949 the school has had its Film Production Centre, in which students work on their practical assignments and diploma projects. Alumnus Andrzej Wajda said of the school,
The Leon Schiller State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź was born in 1958 out of the merger of two Łódź schools that had been running since 1948 – the State Acting School (renamed the Leon Schiller State Theatre School in 1954) and the State Film School.
