William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (often shortened to Romeo + Juliet) is a 1996 romantic crime film directed, produced, and co-written by Baz Luhrmann. It is a modernized adaptation of William Shakespeare 's tragedy of the same name, albeit still utilizing Shakespearean English.
Romeo’s best friend and party animal extraordinaire, Mercutio is a dynamo of constant movement, energy, and passion brimming with keen humor and biting sarcasm. He has a deep hatred of people who are artificial, stiff, and pompous. Mercutio is fond of witty exchanges, specifically raunchy double entendres.
