Layne Thomas Staley (Kirkland, Washington, 22 de agosto de 1967-Seattle, Washington, 5 de abril de 2002) fue un cantante y compositor estadounidense famoso por haber sido el vocalista de Alice in Chains, una de las bandas más emblemáticas del movimiento grunge en Seattle.También llegó a formar parte del super grupo de grunge Mad Season y de Alice Mudgarden.

Layne Thomas Staley (born Layne Rutherford Staley; August 22, 1967 – April 5, 2002) was an American singer and songwriter who was the original lead vocalist of Alice in Chains, which rose to international fame in the early 1990s as part of Seattle's grunge movement. He was known for his distinctive vocal style as well as his harmonizing with bandmate Jerry Cantrell.

Ya no había el Layne Staley estrella de rock. Un día antes de su muerte, la noche del 4 de abril de 2002, Mike Starr -quien había sido bajista de Alice In Chains- lo visitó. Staley lo quería y aceptó tenerlo en su casa. Starr lo vio muy mal, no se animó a llamar al 911. Discutieron y el bajista se levantó y se fue.
