21 de jul. de 2022 · As a middle-out process, digital phenomena exist in the environment, and result in increasing uncertainty (uncertainty 2) to which individuals and institutions have to adapt through dialogue. Learning occurs within this dialogical adaptation—not focused on technology itself, but on the uncertainty it generates.
Say one quantity has an uncertainty of 2 and the other quantity has an uncertainty of 1. Then the uncertainty in the combination is the square root of 4 + 1 = 5, which to one significant figure is just 2. Thus if any uncertainty is equal to or less than one half of some other uncertainty, it may be ignored in all uncertainty calculations.
We argue that justified belief is subject to certain epistemic responsibilities that accompany the subject's particular decision-taking circumstances, and that one typical responsibility is to ascertain, so far as one can, whether the information upon which the judgment will rest is biased or incomplete.

Conventional uncertainty reporting is not ideal, which raises questions about what to do in new digital systems. This paper aims to elucidate the reporting requirements for uncertainty.
