James Hunter Harvey Pirie FRSE FRCPE (10 de diciembre de 1878 [1] – 27 de septiembre de 1965 [2] ) fue un médico escocés, filatelista, cultivador de orquídeas y bacteriólogo. Pirie nominó al género de bacteria Listeria en honor de Joseph Lister; y, a él lo honraron con su epónimo a la península Pirie; y, a su esposa, el cabo Mabel.
Dr James Hunter Harvey Pirie FRSE FRCPE (10 December 1878 – 27 September 1965) was a 20th-century British medical doctor, philatelist, orchid-grower and bacteriologist. Pirie named the bacterial genus Listeria in honor of Joseph Lister and the Pirie Peninsula is named after him.

Harvey Pirie, because that was the name he wrote articles and authored his book “Antarctic Posts” which was published in 1949. That was just a year after he’d signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
James Hunter Harvey Pirie was born in Scotland in 1877. He was educated at Edinburgh University and graduated with a medical degree in 1902. He joined the Scottish National Antarctic Expedition, 1902-1904 (leader William Speirs Bruce) as medical officer, bacteriologist and geologist.
Dr James Hunter Harvey Pirie was a 20th-century Scottish medical doctor, philatelist, orchid-grower and bacteriologist. Pirie named the bacterial genus Listeria in honor of Joseph Lister and the Pirie Peninsula is named after him. Pirie earned his first medical degree at Glasgow University graduating MB ChB in 1902.
