In early season 1 Chuck was meant to be an antagonist “evil guy” and they changed their mind on what direction to take the character after the fact. while Blair is literate (and so is Dan), so is Chuck: most of their roleplay games are based off of literature - Anna Karenina, Wuthering Heights.
