I have setup the provider as following but when I try to access session.accessToken, it returned as undefined. What are you trying to do. To retrieve accessToken to access the backend which is not with Next.js.

You need to explicitly pass your session token when saving, fetching, etc, if you have put ACL permissions in place that restrict public read/write. i.e. your save call should be gameUser.save(null, { success:..., error:..., sessionToken:userSessionToken});

I found a few issues on the main passport repo, however, I think this primarily pertains to this specific strategy as I'm able to successfully authenticate using the passport-google-oauth strategy.
