Haesten was a fascinating character played by an excellent actor. Jeppe Beck Laursen really made Haesten. What I liked most about Haesten, and how Jeppe portrayed him, is that he was the ultimate pragmatist, always calculating and choosing the least-risky path. My favorite line was... Unlike many of his more famous Norse brethren, Haesten lived for a long time and prospered. He didn't need to help Uhtred - he did it because after everything I think they like each other. And in the last twist of all, he died trying to help Uhtred when he didn't have to. Always fun to have in a scene. Always working an angle.

It roughly adapted the plots of the "Warriors of the Storm" and "The Flame Bearer", the ninth and tenth novels in Bernard Cornwell 's The Saxon Stories .
