A racing game designed by Tomohiro Nishikado and released by Taito in 1974, also known as Racer or Wheels. It was one of the first driving video games, and was groundbreaking for innovations such as vertical scrolling, sprites with collision detection, and driving wheel controls.
Tomohiro Nishikado designed Speed Race, which among its many achievements featured the first use of scrolling in a video game. Nishikado considers this game among his favorites prior to Space Invaders. Gameplay consists of a top-down view of your car and others speeding along the road.
