Robot Master is a name used to refer to humanoid boss robots from the original Mega Man series that possess a very advanced level of artificial intelligence. Most, if not all, Robot Masters possess a Special Weapon, which can be acquired by Mega Man (and other characters such as Proto Man and Bass) after the Robot Master is defeated.
The player can play as all eight Robot Masters from the game, as well as Mega Man (plus three alternate forms), Roll (downloadable), and Proto Man (unlockable and downloadable), bringing a total of eleven playable characters. The Robot Masters are unlocked by defeating them with the Mega Buster.

I got most of my information from the Robot Master Field Guide, where there's an in-depth bio for all the robots from 1-10, powered up, MM&B, and MMW5. In the beginning, there's a disclaimer that mentions not all robots with the DWN label were built by Wily, as he has been known to steal other robots and slap his name on them.
25 de may. de 2023 · Robot Masters. These are the Robot Masters Mega Man faces during the game. The last two bosses, Time Man and Oil Man, are only in the Powered Up remake. The original Doctor Right Series only had nine robots that were numbered: Proto Man, Rock, Roll, and the six industrial robots (DRN. 000 - 008).
