11 de oct. de 2021 · Holiday accrual. As an employee you are entitled to annual leave. This leave corresponds to a minimum of 4 times the number of hours you work per week. For example, if you work 40 hours a week, you will then be entitled to 160 holiday hours per year. These are statutory holiday hours.
The following holiday dates in the 2026-2027 school year are for basisonderwijs (primary education), speciaal onderwijs (special education) and middelbaar onderwijs (secondary education). In middelbaar beroepsonderwijs – MBO (secondary vocational education) and tertiary education institutions are free to set their own holiday dates.
In primary and secondary education in the Netherlands, the dates of school holidays are staggered by region to control peaks in holiday traffic. The Government of the Netherlands fixes the dates of the main school holidays and gives advisory dates for the spring and autumn holidays. For the benefit of pupils, holidays are spread throughout the school year.
