On a 4-6 use this table. 1 - Shriekers: Each character must make a dodge roll at level 1+D3. If any character fails, the shriekers are awakened.

It does a good job of simulating the experience of playing a hack-n-slash / kick-in-the-door style game of B/X D&D.
