Wyald was completely untrained in combat, but with his monstrous strength, easily mutilates challengers like Barbo and keeps up with a trained swordsman like Guts. In their true forms, most apostles are extremely powerful and boast powers and strength greatly exceeding that of most humans.
After surviving the Eclipse, Guts grows vindictive, wanting nothing other than to hunt down and slaughter any apostle he encounters, and, more importantly, exact revenge on Griffith and the God Hand. He leaves behind a regressed Casca for two years to embark on his warpath against demonkind.
I think that if Guts became an Apostle, he loses the Causality mojo that makes him special. Griffith runs the world on a spiritual, destiny level. The only reason Guts isn't his plaything like everyone else is because Guts has defied that control on an equally spiritual level, and even matched it by being Griffith's equal.

This would never ever happen (it can't happen, for that matter), but theoretically let's say that Guts somehow decides to sacrifice someone and become an apostle. This happens at where we are in the story now. What would he look like, and what would he be capable of?
