Vox Clamantis ("the voice of one crying out") is a Latin poem of 10,265 lines in elegiac couplets by John Gower (1330 – October 1408) . The first of the seven books is a dream vision giving a vivid account of the Peasants' Rebellion of 1381.
The source of that stability is God, and He is. rediscovered by means of repentance. Gower is concerned with re-. covery, and the Vox Clamantis, by exploring the levels of human expe- rience represented by different ideas of place, allows us to have hope in recovery of a treasure that has been lost.

John Gower (1325?-1403) John Gower was Chaucer's friend and fellow poet. He wrote his early works in Latin (Vox Clamantis) and French (Mirour de l'omme, Cinquante balades) and turned to English, he says (in the Prologue to the Confessio Amantis), at the command of Richard II, who was worried that there were so few books in that language.
Formed in 1996, ensemble Vox Clamantis comprises a diversity of musicians – singers, composers, instrumentalists and conductors – who have a common interest in the Gregorian chant.
