Vassar offers more than 130 study abroad programs. We are committed to being carbon neutral by 2030. Vassar does not use demonstrated interest in the admission process.
The Biology Department offers courses in all aspects of biology, from molecular biology and genomics to physiology and behavior, and from microbiology and public health to ecosystems and restoration ecology. We study all aspects of the living world, from viruses to ecosystems.
Vassar College (/ ˈ v æ s ər / VASS-ər) is a private liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. Founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar, it was the second degree-granting institution of higher education for women in the United States. The college became coeducational in 1969.
Physics and astronomy majors are prepared for graduate studies in not only physics and astronomy, but also engineering, education, and medicine. The faculty is also committed to teaching courses that promote scientific literacy for students who do not choose to major in the sciences.
