Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area is a 1,003-acre (405.90 ha) Georgia state park located in Stewart County in southwest Georgia, United States. The park contains Providence Canyon, which is sometimes called Georgia's "Little Grand Canyon ".
18 de jul. de 2003 · Providence Canyon is a network of gorges in southwest Georgia created by the erosion of soft, multicolored soils. Often called “Georgia’s Little Grand Canyon,” Providence Canyon consists of several chasms, plateaus, cliffs, and pinnacles.
Trails To Hike Canyons 1–9. All trails begin and end at the visitor center. To hike canyons 1–5, turn left at the first creek bed on the white blaze trail, and canyons 6–9 by turning left at the second creek bed.
The canyon soil's pink, orange, red and purple hues make a beautiful natural painting at this quiet park. Visitors can enjoy views of the canyons from the rim trail, taking care to stay behind fences and off the fragile canyon edge.
