He had two brothers, the lawyer Adolf Sander, the scientist Chris Sander, and a sister, the book dealer Marianne Sander. Sander died, aged 72, in Berlin on 12 September 2013. No cause of death was given, though he had been diagnosed with cancer several years before his death.
Biografía. Otto Sander creció en Kassel, donde hizo el Abitur ( Selectividad alemana) en 1961. Tras terminar el colegio hizo el servicio militar en la marina y comenzó a estudiar teatro, filología alemana, historia del arte y filosofía. En 1965 hizo apariciones regulares como actor en el Kammerspielen de Düsseldorf.
