Girton’s gardens are a haven for our college community, and are of course also available to visitors attending conferences and events in College. The grounds have a number of notable features. The Pond, originally dug to provide water for the College fire brigade, is now a haven for wildlife.

Girton has the largest grounds and gardens of any of the Cambridge colleges extending to 18.6 hectares. 1 de oct. de 2009 · Girton College has not been very pro-orchard in recent years. A quite extensive orchard was planted in 1948 as an alternative fruit source to the Old Orchard. Recently it was removed to allow for a 're-organisation' of their sports pitches.
Girton College is one of the 31 constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge. The college was established in 1869 by Emily Davies and Barbara Bodichon as the first women's college in Cambridge.
