Discharge were formed in 1977 and although they started off as punk they soon morphed into metal, and as well as being the single most important influence on what would become known as grindcore, they even had their own genre named after them, D-beat.
Current label: Nuclear Blast. Years active: 1977-1987, 1991-1999, 2001-present. Though still best known as seminal hardcore pioneers (of the D-beat style of punk), Discharge has been playing heavy metal for the majority of their career.
