Yet refers to things which have not happened or which people think may not have happened. Already, yet or still? We use still not yet or already to refer to the continuation of a situation: I still meet my friends from my schooldays now and then. 29 de jun. de 2018 · Oración negativa que señala algo que aún no ha ocurrido. Yet es un adverbio (palabra que modifica al verbo) del idioma inglés. Este se traduce al español como ‘todavía’. Este se utiliza para alguna cosa que esperamos que hubiera pasado ya pero que aún no ha ocurrido. En las oraciones negativas se puede traducir como ‘aún’ o ‘todavía’.
still. Still used with the present perfect means that something hasn't happened. We use it to emphasise that we expected the thing to happen earlier. Still (in this context) is only used in negative sentences. I've been waiting for an hour and the bus still hasn't come. They promised me that report yesterday but they still haven't finished it.
Knowing the difference between still and yet will help you use them at the right place. While still means something which is continuing and yet means until now. Further, still is mainly used with present continuous tense, whereas yet is used with present perfect tense.
Present perfect: still and yet. I still haven't bought a present for Ed. I keep forgetting! She still hasn't packed her case. She's going on holiday tonight! Emma still hasn't arrived. She's really late! I haven't finished my English essay yet. I'll do it at the weekend. Has Ed left yet? Still goes between the subject and haven't/hasn't.
