Dionisio Jesús Valdés Rodríguez , más conocido como Chucho Valdés, Quivicán, Cuba, 9 de octubre de 1941), [1] es un pianista cubano de jazz afrocubano, fundador del grupo Irakere. Su padre fue el también pianista de jazz afrocubano Bebo Valdés (1918-2013).
Dionisio Jesús Valdés Rodríguez, better known as Chucho (born October 9, 1941), is a Cuban pianist, bandleader, composer and arranger whose career spans over 50 years. An original member of the Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna, in 1973 he founded the group Irakere, one of Cuba's best-known Latin jazz bands.
BIOGRAPHY. Cuban pianist, composer, and arranger Chucho Valdés is the most influential figure in modern Afro-Cuban jazz. In a career spanning more than 60 years, both as a solo artist and bandleader, Mr. Valdés has distilled elements of the Afro-Cuban music tradition, jazz, classical music, rock, and more, into a deeply personal style.

Chucho Valdés (né le 9 octobre 1941 à Quivicán, province de La Havane) est un compositeur, pianiste de jazz cubain. Il est le fils de Bebo Valdés. En 1973, il fonde le groupe Irakere qui est le premier groupe cubain à gagner un prix Grammy (en 1980 ). Il a publié 31 albums, dont 5 ont reçu des prix Grammy et 14 nominations.
