Michiel Jansz. van Mierevelt (Delft, 1567-1641) fue un pintor barroco neerlandés, especializado en la pintura de retratos. Biografía. Hijo de un orfebre, entre 1578 y 1581 estudió con dos poco conocidos pintores de Delft: Willem Willensz y Augustijn. En 1581 pasó a Utrecht para proseguir sus estudios con Anthonie Blocklandt van Montfoort.
Hijo del orfebre Jan Michelsz. van Mierevelt (1528-1612), fue el más destacado representante de la retratística oficial holandesa de las primeras décadas del siglo XVII.

Van Miereveld (1566-1641) was a pupil of artist Anthonie Blocklandt of Utrecht. After a two-year apprenticeship, he returned to his native Delft. He received commissions for portraits from the stadholder court in The Hague: including Prince Maurice and members of the Orange family.
Michiel Jansz. van Miereveld was one of the most successful portrait painters of the early decades of the seventeenth century.
