Koppillil Radhakrishnan (born 29 August 1949) is an Indian space scientist who headed the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as Chairman of Space Commission, Secretary of the Department of Space, Government of India. Under his leadership, India became the first country to reach Mars in its first attempt.
Dr Radhakrishnan is Chairman of the Indian Space Commission; Secretary of the Department of Space; and Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) since November 2009. As the Chief of ISRO, Dr. Radhakrishnan has spearheaded “Team ISRO,” executing 31 space missions since Nov 2009, an unprecedented accomplishment in its history.

Dr. Radhakrishnan was Chairman, BOM of Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (IIST) at Thiruvananthapuram (2009-14) and Chairman of BOG of IIEST at Shibpur (2014-17). Presently, he is Honorary Distinguished Advisor in the Department of Space/ISRO.
