Salvador Edward Luria ( Turín, 1912 - Lexington, 1991) fue un microbiólogo italiano. Biografía. Nació en Turín, en el seno de una familia judía sefardí. Estudió medicina en la Universidad de Turín con Giuseppe Levi, y se especializó en radiología. Se graduó en 1935.

Salvador Edward Luria (born Salvatore Luria; August 13, 1912 – February 6, 1991) was an Italian microbiologist, later a naturalized U.S. citizen. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1969, with Max Delbrück and Alfred Hershey, for their discoveries on the replication mechanism and the genetic structure of viruses.
Biographical. Salvador Edward Luria was born on August 13th, 1912, in Torino, Italy. He has been a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. since January 1947. In 1929 he started his studies in Medicine at the University of Torino, where he obtained his M. D. summa cum laude in 1935.
