Joanna (Koinē Greek: Ἰωάννα, romanized: Iōanna, also Greek: Ἰωάνα), the wife of Chuza (γυνὴ Χουζᾶ), is a woman mentioned in the gospels who was healed by Jesus and later supported him and his disciples in their travels.
Joanna was an upper-class Jewish woman in 1st century Palestine. She married Chuza, an influential member of the staff of Herod Antipas, the Roman-appointed ruler of Galilee. She knew Jesus at least as well as any of the apostles did, and was committed to his mission.

(3) Joanna, the wife of Chuza. —Here again we have a convert of the upper class. The name was the feminine form of Joannes, and appears in modern languages abbreviated into Joanne, Joan, or Jane.
Luke 8:3 says that Joanna was the wife of Chuza Herod’s "epitropos". Another text may shed further light on this. In John 4:46ff we read that: 46 So he [Jesus] came again to Cana in Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official basilikos whose son was ill.
