Sharon Claydon is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Federal Member for Newcastle. She is just the third woman to hold the position of Deputy Speaker since the Federation of Australia in 1901.
Sharon Catherine Claydon (born 26 April 1964) is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor member of the Australian House of Representatives, representing the Division of Newcastle in New South Wales, since September 2013.

Sharon Claydon is a fifth-generation Novocastrian. She was first elected in September 2013, becoming just the sixth Federal Member for Newcastle since Federation in 1901. Sharon is an Honours graduate in Anthropology and, before entering Parliament, worked in remote Aboriginal communities and the community-based disability services sector.
