James J. Mingus (born 1964) is a United States Army general who has served as the vice chief of staff of the Army since January 5, 2024. He most recently served as the director of the Joint Staff from 2022 to 2024. He previously served as the director for operations of the Joint Staff from 2020 to 2022. He attended the United States Army War College and Winona State University.
Two years later, Mingus took command of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.
