Hendrick van Rensselaer (October 23, 1667 – July 4, 1740) was director of the Eastern patent of the Rensselaerswyck manor. The estate was composed of land in Columbia County, New York, and land opposite Albany, New York, on the Hudson River, named Greenbush (later Rensselaer, New York).
5 de may. de 2006 · In 1705, Hendrick Van Rensselaer was elected to represent Rensselaerswyck in the New York General Assembly. Re-elected four times, he served until 1715. During that time (from 1706 thru 1734), he was listed on the roster of the Commissioners of Indian Affairs.
The Van Rensselaers were of Dutch origin, [2] and the family originally migrated from the Netherlands to a large area along the Hudson River in the present-day area of Albany, New York. The Van Rensselaers and other patroons named this young colony New Netherland.
