Scott Milne Matheson Jr. (January 8, 1929 – October 7, 1990) was an American politician who served as the 12th governor of Utah from 1977 to 1985. He is the most recent Democrat to serve in that position.
April 25, 1986. Scott M. Matheson was born 8 January 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Scott Milne and Adele Adams Matheson. He soon moved with his family to Parowan, Utah, and, when he was five years old, to Salt Lake City, where his father became Assistant U.S. Attorney for Utah.
